What an amazing man he was. President Hinckley truly holds a special place in my heart. I was baptized a member of the Church in 1998 so he is the only Prophet that I have known and have loved dearly. When I heard the news last night I was truly touched thinking of the sweet reunion that he and his lovely wife must be having. This truly is a time for us to celebrate his life and pay tribute to the amazing service he rendered. Here are just a few of his many, many accomplishments.
1. During his time as Prophet he received great inspiration towards the building of Temples. He called for 100 temples to be in operation by the year 2000. In 1999 the Church had 56 operating temples. Just three years later that number had DOUBLED.
2. He was the most traveled President in Church’s history. {60 countries}
3. He initiated the Perpetual Education Fund for returning missionaries from developing countries to receive a higher education.
4. He dedicated the SLC Conference Center
5. He was called to be a General Authority in 1958; WOW, 50 years of service!!
6. He wrote a best selling book, Standing for Something.

I am so grateful for Prophets and leaders of our Church. Even though we have experienced the loss of our Sweet Prophet the work continues just the same. What a testimony builder to see the Church move forward with strength and peace in knowing that President Hinckley has reunited with our dear Savior. I am so grateful for the Gospel and the comfort it brings me. Families are FOREVER. Events like this strength our testimonies and remind us what our TRUE purpose here in life is. I am grateful for President Hinckley and will never forget him and his eloquent sense of humor!

Thank you for the tribute! I also thought immediately about his wife. I am so grateful to have lived during the time that he was the Prophet!

I love your blog. You are always so insightful.
This is your old roomie, Shana! I found your blog and wanted to say hi. I'm still in the process of getting mine up and going, but I'll let you know when it's working. It looks like you're doing well. We ought to get together sometime soon!
